Body English at the Hard Rock

Body English at the Hard Rock Las VegasFor years this underground space was Babys, until the Hard Rock owners decided to freshen things up. And, boy, did they. Body English is one of the most popular nightclubs in Las Vegas, and while many others are going in the direction of minimalist chic, Body English piles on the Old World, European charm. Here you'll find Baccarat crystal chandeliers, plush leather booths, mirrored walls and so many good looking twenty- and thirtysomethings, you'll swear you stumbled upon a Beautiful People convention. Though the club is located below ground level, under the Joint, everything else here is upper level: the upper floor of Body English is lined with those comfy booths, but to sit there you'll have to shell out a minimum of $300 per bottle per group of four. A large, roomy bar upstairs is a nice alternative for those who would rather stand and mingle - and look at the dancers below. VIP areas include a space that lets those inside see out, but those outside can't see in. If clubs got points for elegant, roomy restrooms, Body English would be right up there. Good news, especially, for ladies tired of those very long lines found at many clubs. Resident music makers DJ AM (Saturday and Sunday) and DJ Vice Friday) keep things - and everyone in the club - moving.

Tao at the Venetian

Tao Las VegasThe newly opened Tao at the Venetian offers yet another example of Las Vegas' white-hot status as the nation's premier nightlife destination. Tao is a 10,000-square foot club featuring two main rooms, the Temple and Emperor's Ballroom, all immersed in a high-energy environment that bathes patrons in a simmering atmosphere of colorful sights and sounds—the perfect place to people watch, the perfect place to be watched. Tao features a 40-foot outside terrace with stunning views of the Las Vegas Strip, while, inside, sophisticated studio lighting and sound systems keep the energy flowing. One of Tao's signature features: eight private skyboxes, which boast mini bars, espresso machines and secure purse drawers. Bottle service is available here, as if you had to ask. Tao is located on the Grand Canal Shoppes level of the Venetian, and is part of a $20 million Tao Asian Temple complex at the hotel. Presiding over all of the frenetic action here is a 20-foot Buddha, who watches everything but presumably (and hopefully) remembers nothing.

Lure at the Wynn Las Vegas

Lure at the Wynn Las VegasThis quietly elegant club emphasizes the "ultra" in ultra lounge, as in ultra chic, ultra comfortable, and ultra relaxed. Lure lures the beautiful people, to be sure, but its atmosphere is not the frenetic, pulsating ambience found at many other clubs. Lure is as much about sitting and being seen as it is about seeing everybody else - and engaging in good conversation with old friends and new. The design of the room here is long and relatively narrow, and the décor is decidedly light -- gauzy fabrics and mirrors gently punctuate the décor, and candlelight adds to the romantic feel of the place. Couches line the walls at Lure, and the back of the room spills out into a cozy, open-air patio with reserved tables and a fire pit. The patio area in particular is quite conducive to great conversation, but then, that can be said about Lure in general.

Studio 54 at the MGM Grand

Studio 54 Las VegasMGM Grand is home to one of Las Vegas' hottest nightclubs, Studio 54, featuring state-of-the-art sound, video and lighting, live dancers, wall walkers and chart-topping dance music. A 22,000-square foot club that has been voted "Best Dance Club" in the past by the Las Vegas Review Journal, Studio 54 offers four dance floors and bars, an exclusive area on the second floor for invited guests, and several semi-private lounges capable of accommodating up to 400 people. In celebration of the original Studio 54, this nightclub features a gallery of black and white celebrity photographs taken by famed paparazzo Felice Quinto. Studio 54 at the MGM Grand captures the magic of New York City's original club of the same name, which not only defined '70s pop culture with its eclectic artwork, dramatic fashion and stylish attitude, but set the standard for a generation of frenetic nightlife.

Rain in the Desert at the Palms

RAIN Nightclub Las VegasRAIN offers the ultimate nightclub experience, with multiple VIP areas available in the form of sky boxes (with thumbprint-screening access for members), cabana areas and water booths (where the patent leather banquettes are actually filled with water). Lavish special effects throughout the club include intelligent lighting and an electrifying interplay of water, fire and fog. The pleasures of Rain in the Desert are found in its multiple contradictions. Like the Palms hotel-casino itself, the club was built for locals but actively encourages out-of-state visitors to leave the Strip and party down. Which they do here, in droves. Rain is cavernous without feeling impersonal, unique without being gimmicky and elegant without being pretentious.

ICE Meta_club

ICE Meta_club Las VegasICE describes itself as a meta-club. "Meta" because under one roof here you'll find several different "clubs within a club" to suit your mood and the experience you're looking for on any given night. The chic 17,000-square-foot hotspot features 40-foot ceilings and six unique environments, including a balcony overlooking the entire venue. Check out the "Fur Room," so-named for its fur-upholstered walls, or the lounge, which features a VIP area overlooking the 4,000-square-foot Brazilian walnut dance floor. Even though this club is called ICE, chances are, you'll work up a sweat grooving to the hottest tunes. Have no fear, because ICE boasts a unique atmospheric control system on the dance floor, highlighted by liquid nitrogen special effects.

Light at the Bellagio

Light Nightclub Las VegasLight is an intricately designed nightclub that effortlessly mixes excitement and elegance. Energize in an intimate ambiance while enjoying table seating in the hospitable tradition of European bottle service. Light allows you to shine in the spotlight and focus on socializing while a team of specially trained hosts attends to your every need. If you prefer an exhilarating club experience, choose a table by the dance floor. For a more relaxing setting, get comfortable in Light's VIP area offering a complete view of the venue. State-of-the-art lighting and sound blend with rich, lavish decor to seductive perfection. A marvelous place to people watch - or to be watched yourself.

PURE Nightclub

PURE Nightclub Las VegasThe nightclub scene in Las Vegas is like, well, Las Vegas itself: bigger is better, more lavish is better, more "wow" factor...definitely better. So it’s easy to conclude that Pure nightclub inside Caesars Palace is Pure Las Vegas. Pure takes the nightlife in the "entertainment capital" to yet another level, with a staggering 36,000-square-foot club that is basically three clubs in one, on two levels. Three distinct environments greet visitors to Pure, each with its own sound system, deejay and personality. The main room is lots of whites, ivories, creams and silvers, with its dance floor surrounded by bed seating; the VIP Red Room has its own set of secluded booths; and the outdoor, 14,000-square-foot Terrace offers fantastic views of the Strip. The music at Pure is as eclectic as the décor and the clientele, with hip hop, rock and house tunes filling the charged atmosphere. Pure Vegas, all the way around.

Rumjungle at Mandalay Bay

Rumjungle Las VegasWith Sin City's largest supply of rum stacked to the ceiling, rumjungle is no stranger to the limelight, or the Las Vegas wild life. rumjungle offers one of the most diversified nightlife experiences found on the Vegas Strip, catering to an upscale, mature clientele. rumjungle is open all week, but the pretty people come out in droves on Friday and Saturday nights. On any given night, the dance floor trembles as DJ Toast spins the "wheels of steel," providing partygoers with a fresh dose of Latin House, Caribbean and African beats that will make you move. Seating comes at a price, so if you're on a budget, plan on standing -- the VIP sections are reserved for night clubbers with cash - and, on the dance floor, calories -- to burn.

Club Rio at the Rio

Club Rio Las VegasRio's Masquerade Showroom really heats up with Club Rio featuring live entertainment, resident DJs spinning Top 40's, dance, House, Latin, R&B, and Hip-Hop, and dancing from the top dance bands in the country. If you hit the dance floor at this pulsing club (and with music as scintillating as this, resistance is futile), be sure and bring your best moves-you just might find yourself broadcast on the 12 monster screens scattered throughout.

Tabu at the MGM Grand

Tabu Ultra Lounge Las Vegas Tabu at MGM Grand is a chic, cosmopolitan ultra lounge that has become a wildly popular place for people to meet and watch other people meet. It's intimate nightlife with style and refinement - here, you sense the club oozes cool without trying too hard. The perfect place for a night out with friends, at Tabu you can carry on a conversation while listening to sounds from the world's best DJs. Unlike many nightclubs in Las Vegas, the VIP areas in Tabu are truly private, places where guests can entertain their friends without having to share the space Unless, of course, they meet someone they want to share it with.

Risque at Paris

Risque Nightclub Las VegasRisque is decked out with plush couches, luxuriant beds, and expansive ottomans surrounding an intimate dance floor. This chic lounge is the perfect spot for after dinner drinks and late-night desserts, cocktails and fine wines, and certainly dancing. Jean-Claude Canestrier, who has been named "Top Pastry Chef" in the world in an international competition sponsored by Pastry Arts & Design magazine, has created a sumptuous selection of sweets for the one-of-a-kind dessert bar at Risque. Sweet times are in store for you at Risque, which has been touted as the "city's steamiest ultra lounge."

ghostbar at the Palms

Ghostbar Nightclub Las VegasLocated on the 55th floor of the Palms and accessible only by express elevator, ghostbar is a realm unto itself. True to its name, the bar feels as if it's floating over Vegas, a world apart from the chaos below. Three of the bar's four walls are glass, and the view through those windows - a proper 180 degrees - is absolutely breathtaking. But ghostbar is more than its view. The room is perfectly rectangular and festooned with space-age bachelor-pad furnishings; it's the best of Hollywood and Vegas combined. The crowd lounging on those silver sofas is older, but hip and energetic. Service is courteous and quick - everything you'd expect for the cover charge (between $10 and $20, depending on the day). Still, the view alone is worth the trip skyward. You'll never feel more in touch with Vegas' intangible spirit as when you're standing on the transparent glass section of ghostbar's outdoor patio, looking straight down. It's vertigo, sure, but it feels kind of good.

The hottest bar and nightclub combo in Las Vegas right now has got to be ghostbar and Rain nightclub. Operated by the n9ne group out of Chicago, the ghostbar has a similar feel to the Chi-town original. VIPVEGAS.com recommends you arrive by 10pm to the ghostbar to throw back a martini or two back before you head downstairs to Rain. Also before you head back downstairs, grab a few unsuspecting newcomers and introduce them to the glass section of the patio, where it feels as if you're suspended mid air, 55 floors above the city.. It's a different kind of high, to be sure.

Voodoo Lounge at the Rio

VooDoo Lounge Las VegasVooDoo Lounge, located on the 51st floor of the Rio, has large windows providing a panoramic view of the Strip. The views can be enjoyed from inside the club, or, if the weather is nice, you can venture outside to the large balcony. Since the Rio is set back from the Strip on Flamingo Road, the vantage point is a great one.

VooDoo Lounge is a fairly small, intimate club with dark colors, Southern decor and low lounge seating. The club has live music and dancing inside from 9 p.m. - 2:30 a.m. A DJ also often sets up on the balcony outside, which is a great place to dance the night away.

Whiskey Sky at Green Valley Ranch

Whiskey Sky Las VegasWhen you step into Whiskey Sky, either through the bar's mammoth 2,000-pound main doors or by descending down a sleek white staircase from the casino at Green Valley Ranch Station, you'll immediately notice the sophisticated, inviting ambience. Whiskey Sky has a comfortable "living room" feel with dark paneled walls, a 12-foot fireplace and sofas and chairs hidden in nooks and crannies throughout the room. The bar is the perfect place to relax, enjoy a drink and do some people-watching, but if you're looking for a nightclub atmosphere, venture into a small, separate room that has a dance floor and is filled with throbbing music. If that's all too much, you can escape outside for some fresh air and conversation at Whiskey Beach, the 8-acre pool area adjacent to Whiskey Sky. There are comfortable chairs and cozy beds to lounge on with plenty of heat lamps nearby, making things cozy even on chilly winter nights. Oh, and did we mention the view? Whiskey Sky offers a breathtaking view of the Strip and the Vegas Valley. Whiskey Beach is a veritable playground with a walk-in pool and sand beach, disappearing edge pool, a cafe, an amphitheater for live entertainment and private "dens" with their own flat-screen TVs, sound systems and misters for hot summer days.

Away from the Vegas Strip, but well worth the trip, Whiskey Sky is a destination, not just a stopping-off point. Best bet, come out during an extended bachelor or bachelorette party, and spend Wednesday night here, during the Whiskey Beach promotion that packs in the beautiful people and keeps people partying throughout the evening in both the pool paradise and the Whiskey Sky inside. If you've been to the Sky Bar in LA, then you know what the scene is like, and it can't be beat.
